At least Holly finds true love with her cat. The Capote novella is very different from the film and Capote based Holly on a woman I had an opportunity to spend some time with: the late Marguerite Littman. She had worked as a Southern accent coach for people like Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor and when I became acquainted with her, she was living in London and the wife of a prominent barrister. She was very smart, very graceful.
