I agree, Simon! There are so many brilliant films that never acquired an Oscar glimmer. (I believe you and I have discussed the extraordinary The Night of the Hunter.) Suddenly, it seems there are sour grapes exhibitions from some performers. (Not Margot Robbie, just her fans.) Is it because Angela Bassett didn't win last year and pulled a face that she is getting a special Academy Award this year? Sure, she's an excellent actress, but actors don't win Oscars for Marvel films...although I'm not saying they shouldn't. But why should the twice-nominated Bassett get a special honorary award because of her displeasure? I don't see Glenn Close, nominated eight times without a win, having a hissy fit and then taking home the little man.
