I especially agree with that last sentence of yours. I think American culture extends beyond pop culture. While jazz is a noted American art form, the US also created narrative films and abstract expressionism and pop art. And the musical and rock n roll and the blues may be defined as pop culture, but aren't they wonderful? Edison, Ford and Bell changed the world's economies and industries and lifestyles. And everyone everywhere all at once wears blue jeans. That said, we can be blamed for fast food. And dreadful weaponry.
