I like this piece very much, Mai, except the part about accepting people who don't want to be vaccinated. It's fine that they make that choice for themselves, if they stay at home instead of spreading disease. I mean, measles cases are on the rise. and prior to the vaccine, 500 people died each year in the US from measles and thousands more were hospitalized. Mostly young children. Totally preventable! Preliminary data show that more than three times as many cases of whooping cough have been reported to date in 2024 compared to the same time in 2023. Polio may be making a comeback. And there is an increase in COVID cases this summer.
