I've been a professional writer for many years...and have been disappointed by my medium readership. I find that I have much more success wth external readers than internal. I don't know about the two writers you mentioned (Though I think the world of Michele Maize) but I understand why they discontinued writing on Medium (although they may be writing somewhere else.)
