Lovely article, Andrew. I was lucky to literally spent hundreds of nights in Elaine's over the years. And I was one of the few who attended Elaine's wedding (a very short-lived marriage but she was thrilled that day). Along with loving the Yankees and wearing a diamond ring from George Steinbrenner, Eaine was a major fan of the Deauville Film Festival. And some of her waiters were interesting fellows, especially Pio, an Italian who seemed to sometimes take off and work as a mercenary in Africa.
