Rat sightings used to seem foreign, but in recent years, I can't recall a day walking around my Manhattan neighborhood without catching large scurrying rodents crossing the sidewalks. Last year, they even invaded the basement laundry room (always immaculately clean) in my building. I'm glad I haven't noticed one behind my toilet.
