Thanks for this fine analysis of The Concert. I was disappointed to not make it to the Vermeer show in Amsterdam. And yes, Vermeers and Leonardos are rare but in contemporary times, it seems that the highest prices often go to works that aren't rare like any art by Warhol, whose production was enormous. People paid a fortune for thousands of those factory-like produced dots of Damien Hirst (although I have no idea if they will hold their value.)
