Wow! Magnificent essay, Max, every point a well-thought-out gem. I had a little argument with a friend about Madonna. He is a gay man in his 60's in recovery who has been helping a younger gay man deal with his addictions. He just broke with the younger fellow because he was annoyed that this person was "bullying Madonna." I disagreed with him. I would consider it bullying it he was commenting on someone "who was born this way" but Madonna has made a choice and she also has the choice to allow her fillers to dissolve. I hope he continues to sponsor and help the younger man. Madonna has always been trendy, and the new large lips and butt are on trend rather than anti-aging. But they don't suit her any more than they suited the late Pete Burns, whom she now resembles.
